The Order Management System (OMS) captures customer orders centrally, routes each one to the store that will fulfil it, and advances it through its lifecycle. It is how a network handles orders that are not a simple over-the-counter sale.

What it is for

  • Capture an order with its customer and lines.
  • Route the order to the store best placed to fulfil it (informed by network availability).
  • Advance the order through its stages, with the ability to revert a step if needed.

Key screens and actions

1

Capture an order

The capture view records the order’s customer and lines and creates the order.
2

Route to a store

Assign the order to a fulfilling store so the right location picks and prepares it.
3

Advance through the lifecycle

Move the order forward stage by stage; the order detail view shows its current state and history.
4

Revert if needed

Step an order back to an earlier stage to correct a mistake.
